Under: Holiday Sanity Tips
Hello old friends and new ones!
After months of consideration, procrastination, excitation, jubilation and finally direction, I am committing myself to writing a blog again, updating it once a week.
My old travel/travails/inspirational/spiritual blog that later turned into different musings I had on the process of being human, is still around, I had basically abandoned it because the deep process of figuring out what I was going to do with life was solved and I didn't have anything to else to say....
Well, I am bringing back the Process of Being to my website and making it a part of my life's work to talk about tips to help us throughout the day when we feel overwhelmed, under-loved and stressed. Having a blog again was something I wanted to think about doing, and then just wanted to do and finally, I'm doing it.
Without further adieu (see a pattern here?), here's a couple of helpful things to do during as the year comes to a close, the days are shorter and we (in America) go crazy as to what products to buy for our loved ones and peers, we put even more pressure on ourselves during this time more than any other time!
MODERATE THAT PLATE!
So, it's the holidays, hey it's only comes once a year, I can stuff my face right? Well, yeah, but how does that make you feel afterward? Do you feel good? Do you feel non-guilty? It's that guilt that makes us not enjoy what we just ate no matter what the quantity was.
Here's a cool trick I learned recently, I am using this application to food. When you head to the office party, or family gathering or potluck with friends or you got invited to Guy Fieri's holiday football extravaganza event to this before going, and if you feel like you want to be stronger, do it while you are at the party (again, go into the bathroom, study or bedroom).
Sit or lie down comfortably. Close your eyes (remember eyes create a large amount of stimulation, so that's why we close them when we connect with our inner self).
Take a nice deep breath in and out, do this as you settle in to the seat that you are sitting in. Feel the object you are sitting on or lying on.
Breathe in slowly and exhale slowly. Now imagine the food you want to eat less of or the food(s) that you aren't ingesting.
Image that it's in front of your face, you are looking at it, does it have a scent? Can you see the texture? Notice the feeling in your body as you look at this object in front of you. Now bring it to where it's touching your nose, how do you feel now?
Now imagine it's on one of those ziplines as it zips, zips, ziippppppppppppppps away from you getting smaller and smaller into the distance. Notice any scents? Notice any textures? Notice the feeling in your body? Can you see this object? Is there something loving and positive you want to say to this now distant, out-of-mind object? Maybe you can thank that object for giving you the space to enjoy yourself at this party and eating a tablespoon amount of that object or not eating that object it all.
Of course you are breathing as you do this visualization. And remind yourself that whatever object you imagined during these moments of forgiveness for over eating meditation, you know that once you step back into the festivities, you will be free to enjoy tablespoon size portions or pass over the object(s) you don't want to put in your mouth. And know that when you see the food on the table you will only see tablespoon portions and the food that you aren't going to eat doesn't exist anymore.
Now, feel your feet touching the ground or your heels touching bed or couch and take a couple of deep breaths in and out again, stand up and have fun at the party enjoying in moderation!
Tap it!
This is great for when you feel overwhelmed, upset, unsure, or any other self-doubting, self-defeating thought. You will also get a nice energy shot without having to drink a nastaay-tasting high fructose corn syrup, high caffeinated drink. You can tap this as many times throughout the day. Wake up your system and feel ALERT and ALIVE!
There are two spots, under your collar bone, the notch (clavicle notch) below your throat. Put your fingers on the notches on the collar bone, and move about an 1 inch down. Now massage very hard or tap hard. Do that a couple of times, and BREATHE while doing it. This is K-27 or Kidney meridian 27th point. Think of it like a reset button for your energy, when you massage or tap these points you are getting your energy to flow in the right direction, and you are changing your state of mind. Found this great guide online see below.
The area I am describing is #1 in the diagram below. This is taken directly from Donna Eden's Energy Medicine book (which I have and you should have!).

The 3 Thumps
This brings me to the next tip, which is great for:
Point #2: Thymus
This is in the center of your chest, where your heart chakra is, located on your sternum. Again, breathe while tapping or massaging, do if for the time Donna recommends or do it for as long you feel necessary, or short, we are all different so you decide just how much Energy Medicine you need!
Point #3: Spleen Neurolymphatic
For us gals, depending where your nipples are, follow the line straight down from your nipples, to your bra line and move about an inch down from.
For you guys, again, follow the line from your nipples and travel about an inch below.
For most people these are a bit sore, if you do these regularly, it will be come less sore.
Breathe as you tap or massage this spleen neurolymphatic point.
If you feel self-conscious and are in a public setting go into the bathroom and do this, or in your car or out in the open so people will see what you are doing and will come up and ask what you are doing and then you can show them. There, you just spread some positive energy, you've just done the most humanitarian task: you showed how someone can love herself or himself!
But, what if I'm not doing it right?
But what if I'm not doing it in the right place??
Just like Donna Eden says, and like I say, it's not about right or wrong, it's about intention. You are intending to increase your health, so don't freak yourself out MORE by WORRYING about tapping or massaging the right spot, where every you tap, you are hitting the spot that needs it. Know this. Own it! Do it!
